The Minister of Immigration and Transport has announced and reviewed the details of the newly made Transport Sector Agreement. It is all about providing a high certainty rate for public transport users and businesses that rely on freight movement. According to this specific agreement, eligible drivers of buses, trucks, deckhands, and ships will have a two-year work-to-residence pathway.
Truck drivers involved in driving vehicles can apply for residence visas, provided they hold 4 or 5 licenses. The sector agreement will undoubtedly support the transition from relying on skilled migrant labour, finally improving wages and working conditions for all.
