Some Major Reforms to the Scheme of AEWV in New Zealand

The government of New Zealand introduced some major reforms to the Accredited Employer Work Visa scheme. Changes made are to address skill shortages and support employers in filling some critical gaps in the workspace. The changes include removal of median wage threshold, reducing of experience needs for visa applicants and introduction of new seasonal visa pathways.

As wage thresholds will be removed for AEWV roles, it will permit employees to offer the workers the market rates. Work and student visa holders applying for AEWV will be gaining work rights under an Interim Visa. New seasonal pathways introduced will offer additional options for industries that are reliant on seasonal labour.
