From March 2025, primary teachers in New Zealand will find it easier to secure residence. The NZ government has moved them to the Green List Straight to Residence pathway. It is a highly significant change aimed at addressing the widespread shortage of workspace in education.
Earlier, primary school teachers were eligible to apply for residence under the Work to Residence pathway. It also required them to work in the country for a particular period before applying for residence. With the new changes introduced, eligible teachers will be able to apply directly for residence even if they are residing offshore.
