Immigration New Zealand offers a range of visas that will allow you to work in the country. However, before you apply, make sure you understand which New Zealand work visa is best for you. Each of them falls into one of two categories: temporary or permanent, with each having its own set of conditions and application process. The following are some of the most popular types of work visas.
Post-study Work Visa:
With this visa, you can work in New Zealand after you finish your studies. You can apply for a Post-study Work Visa to work in New Zealand for up to three years if you have an appropriate qualification obtained in New Zealand. A Post-study Work Visa is valid for one, two, or three years, depending on your qualification and where you studied, you can work for almost any employer in New Zealand in any job. Your partner can also apply for a work visa in New Zealand. If you have children who are dependent on you, they can study as domestic students.
Religious Worker Visa:
If you have at least two years of training/experience in religious work that you are being sponsored to do, this visa is a way to get residence. To be given an initial two-year temporary work visa, you must have an offer of religious work from a religious organization, as well as their sponsorship. If their offer of work and sponsorship continues, you can apply for a second work visa, then after 3 years in New Zealand, for a resident visa.
Talent (Culture, Arts, Sports) Work Visa:
This visa is for people who have exceptional talent in the arts, sports, or culture and are looking for a way to live in New Zealand. To apply, you'll need the help of a New Zealand organization with national repute and a reputation for excellence in your field of expertise, as well as a sponsorship from an individual or the supporting organization. To apply for a work visa, you must be under 55 years old. After being actively engaged in your field in NZ for 2 years, you may be eligible for residence.

You should apply under this category if you need practical work experience in New Zealand as part of your studies or training. This visa will allow you to pursue and complete a course of studying or training, such as formal religious training, practical dental or medical training, or a jockey apprenticeship. Apart from meeting the other requirements, such as health & character, to be eligible for the visa, practical training should be required as part of your study. You can't include a partner or dependent children in your work visa application, but they can apply for visas based on their relationship to you.
