The NZ Government has unveiled some highly significant changes to the AEWV scheme. It is aimed at addressing skill shortages, followed by supporting employers in filling critical gaps in the workforce. The measurements have been set for rolling out in stages all along 2025, thus designing high flexibility for employers and maintaining fairness for migrant workers.
Immigration New Zealand has highlighted the importance of balancing the needs of employers with safeguarding the rights of workers. The removal of wage thresholds and reduction in experience requirements mark a significant step towards tackling NZ labor shortages.
