What is Migrant Exploitation Protection Work Visa?

Migrant exploitation refers to the behavior that results in the increased risk of causing material harm entirely to a migrant worker. It includes breaches related to minimum employment standards or breaches of health laws. People coming across or suspecting minimum employment rights may report the same to Employment New Zealand.

Before applying for MEPV, every migrant must have the report assessed by the Employment New Zealand and a Report of Exploitation Assessment Letter. An MEPV will be granted for a maximum of six months or for the duration remaining on the current visa for a migrant. The visa will permit the migrant to work for any type of employer.
